Vanity Trove's Sasa Exclusive Hari Raya Trove

Remember my post on Vanity Trove last week I talked about the Sasa exclusive and the personalized trove? It's here!
Housed in very very sturdy boxes, and even shrink wrapped! I decided to write about the Sasa box first, and you'll find out why at the end of the post. :)
There's a pink ribbon pull that reveals a drawer full of goodies. I think this is a nice touch! I can already see myself upcycling the boxes into storage for my makeup or craft supplies by stacking and decorating them. I love it when containers can be reused.
The box is lined with lilac and cushioned with yellow paper shred. The padding helps it from being knocked around in the box too much. I know, enough about the packaging already right? :P At a glance, you can see 6 items and RM10 Sasa voucher.
With the exception of NUXE and Cyber Colors, these brands are all new to me. Let's start with the best product in the box!

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-purpose dry oil (10ml)

Read my review of the fabulous Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-purpose dry oil here. Absolutely the biggest gem of this box!

Neogence Amino Acid Cleansing Mousse (50ml)

Neogence Amino Acid Cleansing Mousse (50ml)
Price: RM39 for 180ml. Never heard of Neogence before but this smells so nice and fresh! Very sweet-smelling and citrusy. Reminiscent of Garnier's Pure Lemon Essence line. It's a mousse, and knowing how I like my facial wash to be (foamy!), you know the texture would be a hit with me. It pumps out foamy mousse, allowing you to skip the lathering step to foam it up.
In retrospect... I should have pumped it into my palm. I haven't started using this, but I did try it. First impression: smooth, deep cleansing (removes make-up) and non-drying. My face felt very clean, and when I gave it a swipe with my make-up remover, there was only the slightest trace of make-up. I didn't expect that from a foam cleanser. Scent lingered for awhile, which I didn't mind since it was a nice sweet-smelling wake-me-up.

Cyber Colors Green Tea & Lavender Cleansing Oil (200ml)
Cyber Colors Green Tea & Lavender Cleansing Oil
Cyber Colors Green Tea & Lavender Cleansing Oil
Price: RM53.90 for 200ml. Cleansing oil with green tea and lavender. Goodness, the scent is SO STRONG! And worse, it smells like the tea tree oil scent, not like green tea (which I really love!) or lavender (which I also really love!). This is a problem for me because my nose is very sensitive to smells, so the scent can make or break products.

I've never tried cleansing oil before, and was oblivious to the fact that there's a particular way to use it. I just splashed water on my face, massaged the oil onto my face, added another splash, massage... uh, it was a hot mess. Add the fact that my nose suffered that smell I disliked, and I pretty much wanted to toss it to the bin. Then I read the instructions for use.

Usage: Gently massage an adequate amount over the face with fingertips. Tissue off or rinse off with water.

I noticed it didn't say over wet face. So I tried again later that night. This time I started off with a dry face, and even went over my eyes - which I never ever do, but I figured how different is it from my biphased makeup remover? To my delight, even my gel eyeliner disappeared. Completely. I'll definitely use this again since I can skip the makeup remover step, but not when I'm bare faced. I'd rather reach for the Neogence Amino Acid Cleansing Mousse for the smell. I haven't tried to tissue off the cleansing oil because I'm apprehensive that my face will feel all greasy and unclean, even though the oil is very runny. Cleansing oil is just too new to me perhaps.

BRTC Jasmine 3D Moist Powder
BRTC Jasmine 3D Moist Powder
BRTC Jasmine 3D Moist Powder
Price: RM55.00 for 25g. I actually had no clue what this was supposed to be or do as I couldn't read the Korean at the back, only that it's labelled the ice cooling powder containing water capsule. This is what I could find:

DescriptionBRTC Jasmine 3D Moist Powder contains 10 different kinds of flower essence, the hydrogel powder, which combines moisturizing cream and powder, composite 65% of moisturized and jasmine essence. It uniqueness is that the high concentration of jasmine essence can be absorbed into deep skin layer efficiently, bringing a refreshing feeling after use.
It can control the release of facial oil, moisturize, cover pores, and to provide a brightening and soothing skin effect.
How to use itApply appropriate amount and gently tap on face (do not apply in circular direction, otherwise the powder will become adhesive)
I used it as per instruction, and I'm so surprised by how much I like this! I've never owned anything remotely similar. It's very cool to the touch, which is a lovely feeling. As you can see it's powder, but don't mistaken it for your typical loose powder. To me, it's almost like a BB cream in powder form.

The container and powder puff
Tapping it on my face with the powder puff (which is very soft and makes the experience even better) my face felt cool and fresh. At this point, I was already in love. Then I noticed that my skin looked dewy. Really, it's not easy to find a product that gives you that dewy finish. You're more likely to get the grease pan effect.
Looks like any loose powder, but the comparison does it no justice
My skin also looked brighter with the most natural finish. I can't say if it controlled my facial oil since I barely have any, but it evened out my skin tone and totally covered the splotches of red on my face that day. That confused me, since this doesn't seem like a full coverage face powder, but perhaps it also soothed the irritation. Con: the container lets out too much product. There should be a window for us to control the amount.

I think I'll purchase this once it runs out. You can never have too many low-maintenance products that work :D

Cure Natural Aqua Gel
Price: RM115.00 for 250ml. These came in sachets, which happened to be convenient in this case. I normally hate sachets as you well know, but it exfoliates so I toss it in my travel bag, makeup bag, and on the bathroom counter. It's called Natural Aqua Gel, but it is so runny! Makes it difficult to work with. It's so satisfying to use though! I didn't take pictures when I used it and I'm not opening another sachet for purposes of showing you cos I'm hogging them! LOL.
Sadly, this dried out my skin and left me feeling traces of it. But being a masochist, I know I'll finish them up anyway if only for the satisfaction of seeing those balls forming and rolling off. Shed thy skin, shed!! Mwahaha. It seems gentler than the others I've tried over the years.

How I used it: I smoothed it (messily, thanks to its texture) on my face and neck for about 20 seconds, then I very gently ran my fingers over in circular motion. Came off very easily in little balls to my satisfaction. My skin feels very clean afterwards, but like I said I could feel traces left. So I rinsed it off and used my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. My skin drank it up!

This snake has happily changed skin ;)

  1. Nice photos and review!
I've tried the Jasmine BB cream and it works well :D

all the products are awesome! I might check Vanity trove next :D

    1. @Mizu chan Thanks girl! If the BB cream works half as well as the powder, I'm already happy. I'll be posting about the monthly (customized) Vanity Trove soon, so be sure to check that one too. Being an exclusive edition, you can't really form opinions for the monthly sub based on it :D

  2. superb writing. why i said that is bacause just by reading it makes me want to try to use every product you reviewed. amazingly written and well said. awesomeness and makes me loves you more by constructing your words nicely in everything you want to say. xx

  3. You do have the knack for making me love everything, Sabrina. I think you could sell ice to the Eskimos.

Whatever hot messes you get up to with cleansing oil, I would outdo you with powder. I cannot handle anything powdery without making it snow. I am a total powder klutz - I get it everywhere. Even in places where powder should never go haha!

From the looks of things, Vanity Trove is really pleasing everyone with their new direction of exciting Special Editions and Customised troves. I'm itching for a go.

I'm so glad you did a special review of the Nuxe Oil. I was impressed by Bag of Love's Nuxe bag. Boy, MiMi had us waiting all day and it was so funny waiting for her to photoshop her photo. I actually laughed out loud at all the foot tapping.

I did a quick survey and did you know some of us got up to some weird stuff waiting for Lilac Box 4? Did you?

    Malaysian beauty boxes rock!

    1. @shopgirlsdiary I've been told that frequently, I'm now considering venturing into ice business in Alaska. LOL. Thank you by the way!

Do you know that your comments are just as awesome as your posts? :D I'm actually your fellow powder klutz. For some reason I always end up accidentally flipping or flicking off the powder container and alas - makeup dandruff. Ack, as if I don't have enough of the normal kind already!

I've actually forgotten all bout the Customized Trove I received - haven't even opened it. I suspect the review will take awhile while I celebrate Hari Raya.

And the Nuxe bag? I couldn't afford it but then when I tried the Nuxe Oil, I was so dismayed at the opportunity I let pass! I'm so jealous that you weren't an idiot like me and just bought it.

Oh do tell do tell what did you guys do for the Lilac Box 4?? There seems to be a craze for it with it selling out so fast but again, I'm always opting for the cheaper ones and I need a justification for "upgrading" my monthly treat.

    2. You know, I've been missing out on all the Nuxe samples everyone else was getting in their beauty boxes because of my bad timing so I thought what the heck - I saved for not getting all those Lilac Boxes, Vanity Troves and Fabulous Finds subscriptions anyway - may as well. Ironically, I got more Nuxe samples in my first and only CosmoBox. Hey, can I send you those? I have SO much Nuxe now it's hilarious!
Seriously kiddo, drop me your details and I'll send them over (no charge) to you after the Raya break. They're yours. Sharing is caring, after all.

  4. OMO! That looks like a great box! How much is it in dollars hun?
I love asian cosmetics, they're pretty expensive here.
I would really love to try the Jasmine Powder and Green Tea & Lavender Cleansing Oil, they look amazing! Great detailed post love..

    1. @Faith Roxas I'd say it's about 21USD - the products are worth around 55USD. What do you think? Is that value enough for you? :)

Asian cosmetics are very innovative, I find. You can actually get those at an affordable price - well, the same price worldwide - at Sasa's website. They deliver internationally and always have free shipping promotions. :D
